Summer Programs

What is the difference between the full-day programs of Summer Training and Hockey School ?

Both programs involve the same amount of instruction time. Both involve two 1 ½ hour sessions a day on the ice, two 1 ½ hour sessions of off-ice conditioning and skill development exercises, along with video analysis and instructional video sessions. The difference is that summer training is designed to accommodate people who will be attending more than one or two weeks, who will be attending in July when class sizes tend to be smaller, and for those who have attended our classes before.

There will be 30 minutes of power skating, 20 minutes of skill development, 20 minutes of team drills, and 15 minutes of scrimmage in both programs. The hockey school program will progressively take the student from A  through Z in a strict curriculum and in the same manner throughout both weeks

The summer training program will work on all the same skill areas but with different drills each week and with more emphasis on the particular needs of the group, as well as the individual players within that group.

What does my youngster have to bring with him/her ?A hot lunch is provided by us every day but you might want to pack a little something for your child to snack on during their video sessions, and an extra juice or two for when your child comes off the ice. Your child will go on the ice twice each day so a second dry set of underwear or T-shirt is needed. Your child will be doing calisthenics and playing ball hockey outside so they need running shoes, gym shorts, and a second stick with no tape on the blade.

Do I have to be there to tie his skates for each session?
It is the responsibility of our councilors to get the kids on the ice on time with their skates tied appropriately. We ask only that you to be sure to have them there at least one Half an hour before before their morning session if they are on the ice first. They will be trained to get themselves dressed as much as possible depending on their age but we will always have someone there to help them get ready and to tie their skates.

Can I claim this as Day Care on my Income Tax ?
Yes you can. The government will allow up to $100 as a legitimate claim for day care services in our summer programs due to the all-day supervision and the hot lunch provided.

Can I drop my child off earlier or pick him up later ?
Yes you can. We will have someone there to greet your child as early as seven o'clock in the morning and someone there to watch over your child until whatever time you pick him up at night. Just make arrangements with us beforehand if you will be considerably early or considerably late.

Do I get a discount if I am registering more than one child or for more than one week ?
Yes you do. There is a 10 % discount for each additional family member upon registration, and a similar 10 % discount for each subsequent week for which you register.
