About our facility

Ice rentals in Montreal

Since 1998, our full-service facility has served the West Island of Montreal and beyond, offering unparalleled service to our customers all year long!

We have three indoor ice rinks for rental, on top of the many activities on our schedule.

Ice rinks

Our surfaces are 3 on 3 sized, which is about two-thirds the size of a standard municipal arena.

Each of our rinks has two sets of players’ benches, a scorekeeper’s box and a score clock.



Please note that there are no bleachers in our rinks, but a viewing area overlooking the rink is available on the second floor.

Other amenities

We have several viewing areas on the facility’s second floor for spectators to watch activities on the ice. Tables and chairs are available for your comfort.

We have vending machines onsite for sport drinks and light snacks.

We have staff at the front desk during administrative hours to answer questions. Skate sharpening services may be available during this time for hockey skates.

DEK Hockey rinks

DEK Hockey is a specialized surface of interlocking perforated plastic tiles made especially for ball hockey.

Our DEK Hockey rinks each contain two sets of players’ benches, a scorekeeper’s box and a score clock.


Both rinks have bleachers for spectators and floodlights for playing after sunset.

Disclaimer

If you have any illness symptoms, you cannot attend your activity. Excellent Ice Kirkland is under no obligation to offer refunds or credits for missed games.

All participants are responsible for ensuring that they follow the safety guidelines put into place by Excellent Ice Kirkland. Each participant is responsible for following the facility rules. Failure to comply with these directives will result in the immediate removal from the facility.

All participants (including coaches and instructors) must always wear a CSA approved hockey helmet and skates on the ice.

Contracts must be signed prior to ice times.

Persons using these facilities do so at their own risk.  The owner and operator of these facilities, EXCELLENT ICE (KIRKLAND) PROP., its directors and employees shall not be responsible for any loss or injury occurring in connection with the usage of these facilities.  The users agree to waive and release EXCELLENT ICE (KIRKLAND) PROP., its lessees, directors, and employees from all claims for loss or injury however caused that may occur while using these facilities, including claims for loss and injury that may be caused or contributed to by the negligence of EXCELLENT ICE (KIRKLAND) PROP., its lessees, directors, or employees.

Frequently Asked Questions

A one-hour rental includes 50 minutes of ice time and 10 minutes of ice resurfacing (Zamboni).

All ice and DEK rentals include the time allotted. Additional fees apply for any facility use beyond the reserved time.

No, you cannot make up the missed time, as this delays the schedule for the rentals after yours. Please ensure your members are on time for their practice/game/training/event/etc.

If our schedule is running late, rest assured you will receive the amount of time you have paid for. If you start late because our schedule is behind, you will simply finish an equivalent amount of time later. We will not cut you off if the delay is on our end.

We generally allow no more than 30 people on the ice at one time. Our rinks are about two-thirds the size of a standard arena, so they hold fewer skaters. For safety reasons, we don’t recommend having more than 30 people on the ice and reserve the right to limit the number of participants allowed on the ice at one time.

We have dressing rooms inside the arena. There are typically two dressing rooms assigned per rental hour. Dressing rooms have bathrooms with shower facilities.

Our outdoor DEK Hockey facility does not have indoor dressing rooms, but customers can come into the arena to use shower facilities if available. There is a Pro Shop at the DEK facility with one bathroom.

We have two parking lots separated by lane dividers. The southern parking lot is accessible from Hymus Blvd. and our northern side is accessible from Edmond St. via Highway 40 or Chemin Ste-Marie.

While parking is generally plentiful, please note that during busier periods (like weekends during the spring YPHL), space may be limited. For everyone’s safety, we ask for your patience and caution when driving in the parking lot, as there are often families with young children walking to and from their vehicles. You may need to factor in extra travel time during these periods.

We require full payment at the time of reservation. No rentals will be reserved without payment.

Hockey helmets are mandatory for all customers. Full cages/visors are mandatory for participants under the age of 18. Cages/visors are optional but strongly encouraged for customers 18 years and over.

We do, for both skating and hockey!

Private lessons start at $90/30 minutes; the fee includes both the ice time and the instructor’s fee. (Generally you will be alone on the ice with your instructor, unless you have arranged for a semi-private lesson.) Rates increase according to the time slot, instructor’s fees and number of students on the ice.

If you choose to do private lessons, the next step would be to find an ice time that fits into both your and the instructor’s schedule. Generally speaking, during our Fall/Winter/Spring seasons, the only ice time we have available for private lessons are weekdays before 3:30pm.

We do not currently offer meeting room rentals. Customers must leave the facility once their ice time is over.

We do not currently have restaurant services. We have vending machines for light snacks and beverages.

Our main floor is ground level with no steps, so customers with different mobility needs can circulate to the viewing areas between the three rinks to watch activities.

Please note that there are steps to access the actual ice surfaces.

There is no elevator in the building, so the second floor is not accessible at this time.

Our DEK Hockey facilities are outdoors at ground level, and there is a paved pathway to the two rinks. There is however a step to access the bench areas in the rinks.
