Give yourself the edge!

The building block of all on-ice movement

This specialized program is built for single and double letter players who want to gain efficiency, speed and agility on the ice.

Proven results

Perfect Skating™ was first piloted by players of the Ottawa Senators and French Olympic Ice Hockey Federation in 2008. Since then, through collaboration with the University of Ottawa’s Kinesiology Department, hockey equipment manufacturers and NHL partners, the program continuously evolves to meet the needs of players year-round.

Spring Program

Classes will be divided into single and double letter groups. Class fees include all 11 sessions.

Perfect Skating focuses on on-ice movement and performance, and players in this program will work on isolating movement to gain speed and agility.

This program is designed to strengthen a player’s fundamental skating skills, paying special attention to these key areas:

  • Linear Front Stride
  • Linear Crossovers
  • 3 Step Quickness
  • Explosive Stops and Starts
  • Open Hip Quickness and Mobility
  • Evasive Skating to Create Time and Space
  • Pivots
  • Backwards Mobility
  • Backwards Crossovers

Every session will start by introducing the skating skill. Pucks will then be added as a layer to develop understanding. Players move through these skating sequences with efficient puck movement and protection. Classes will also address passing and shooting.

The last two sessions of this program will be spent teaching players how to blend these skills into dynamic patterns that can be used in game situations.

This class will be divided into single and double letter groups.

Prerequisite: Dynamic Skating or equivalent.*

No, we do not provide equipment. All participants will be required to purchase their own equipment.

If you are looking for gently-used secondhand equipment, we recommend Play It Again Sports on St-Charles Boulevard.

Unfortunately, any participant without the proper equipment will not be allowed onto the ice for their class out of concern for their safety. No make-up classes or refunds will be provided for classes missed due to inappropriate equipment.

Spectators may watch classes from the hallway or from the gallery on the second floor. Spectators are not permitted inside the rink where the class is taking place, both for space reasons as well as to make sure instructors have children’s attention. (Plus, it’s much warmer upstairs!)

Beginner players are not eligible for these classes, as they require hockey experience.
